Cycling in Majorca

If you’re visiting Majorca and you are a keen cyclist you are in for a real treat. There are some great cycling routes throughout the island which are listed in more detail below including the Monasteries route. You’ll enjoy exploring the island by bicycle while savouring its natural beauty.

Here are some of the most popular routes that you can cycle during your visit to Majorca:

Cap de Formentor

If you’re looking for a great cycling route on the island of Mallorca, consider the Cap de Formentor. This route features a variety of landscapes, great climbs, and technical descents. The Cap de Formentor is often described as the best 40km ride in Europe. The scenery is spectacular, with karst cliffs rising over the ocean. It’s not a difficult ride, but it does involve about 1,000 metres of elevation gain.

Cycling in Cap de Formentor means you’ll get a great view of the bay and lighthouse as you go. The road is well-marked and undulating, so your bike should ride well. The views from the top are fantastic. You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the bay, the rocky mountains, and the crystal clear waters of the Balearic Sea. The route also offers a stop for a well-deserved break!

Port of Valldemossa

One of the best climbs in Mallorca is the Port of Valldemossa. With plenty of trees on both sides of the road, this Mallorca cycling climb is both challenging and rewarding. A cycling holiday here should begin early in the morning, though. The climb starts out at sea level and continues up a steep incline of about 7% with several short, sharp hairpins. Once at the top, you’ll see a picturesque view of the bay and surrounding mountains.

If you’re going to cycle on the island, the first place to head to is Valldemossa. It’s home to one of the island’s most spectacular cycling routes, and there are many other areas to explore if you’re looking for a new challenge. The island is covered with hills, but most of them are relatively flat, with a few steeper climbs.

Port de Pollenca

If you’re interested in cycling in Majorca, you’ve come to the right place. Port de Pollenca has a renowned cycling route that goes from Port de Pollenca to Formentor. You can also follow the same route that professional cyclists like Mario Mola and the Sky team take. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or just looking for a challenging and exciting route, Port de Pollenca has something to offer you.

If you’re looking for the best places for cycling in Majorca, look no further than Port De Pollenca. The north-east corner of the island is home to many excellent cycling routes. In fact, the region is a favourite hideout for cycling training camps. In fact, the Vanity Hotel Golf is home to a team of professional cyclists from Team Sky and Ineos, who train in the town.

Port de Pollenca ride

If you’re interested in cycling in the Mediterranean, you might want to check out the Port de Pollenca ride on Mallorca. This 80-100 km route starts with a six-percent climb at the Col de Femenia, which is a great warm-up before the main road. After the climb, you’ll descend downhill and enjoy stunning views of the port. And, of course, you can get out and cycle the other way as well.

This Mallorca cycling route takes you from Port de Pollenca to Andratx, including a loop at Banyalbufar. There are plenty of opportunities for scenic views along the coast, but the more challenging route begins in Alaro, where you’ll climb 5,300 meters. The route continues along the ma-10 road, incorporating the soaring mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

Route of the Monasteries

For cyclists who want a bit more of a challenge and some hilly roads, the east or south of Majorca might be a better option. The east has mostly flat roads, but it does have a few challenging climbs. The most iconic climbs in Mallorca are San Salvador and Cura. Both of these climbs feature picturesque hilltop monasteries. If you like cycling, you should try the Route of the Monasteries.

The start and end point of this route is the Palma Aquarium. From here, it climbs the inland area and the coast. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll have sweeping views of the entire island. Along the way, you’ll also pass a working water well. The monastery itself is now a small restaurant and hotel. The route also includes the epic three-monasteries cycle route.

Soller tunnel

You can cycle through the famous Soller tunnel on a sunny day. This route starts in Puerto Soller and goes through the towns of Biniaraix and Fornalutx. It finishes at the “Sa Figuera” mountain road and offers great views over Soller and its surrounding area. There are several cafes in Puerto Soller. Fornalutx has twice been named the most beautiful village in Spain.

If you want to cycle through the tunnel, you need to know where to start. The road to the tunnel is wide and well-maintained. It is also open all year round. A short stretch of the road goes through the tunnel. The road itself is old and cracked in places, but it is still relatively safe to ride. Several cyclists have opted to use the tunnel to go up the Soller mountain pass.
